Tonight Google ran into issues with its servers as several services were affected by disruptions, but now the company has confirmed the issues are resolved. People reported they couldn’t send emails through Gmail and upload files to Drive, with thousands of reports on DownDetector.com. Google itself noted on its G Suite status dashboard that there were additional issues with Docs, Meet, Chat, Keep, Groups, Slides, Sites, and Voice.

Left: Failed to send email in Gmail. Right: Failed to import to Drive.

Google first recognized the issues around 10:30 p.m. PST, but reports started appearing long before that. In the dashboard, Google listed all known issues:

Problems sending Gmail, problems recording Meet, problems creating files in Drive, problems uploading CSV users to Admin Console, problems posting messages to Google Chat, problems adding news pages on sites, retention issues, voicemail issues

He has since fixed all of these issues, saying:

The problem with [with our services] should be resolved. We apologize for the inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience and continued support.

There have also been tons of complaints that YouTube downloads have been interrupted, Twitter search and YouTube itself will tell you. This issue is now also resolved.

I was able to confirm the Drive issues myself on my personal account and on my G Suite account, even though emailing was working fine through my personal email address – it is possible that different accounts were affected to varying degrees.
