Chrome is the world’s most popular web browser, but it still has plenty of issues, especially on Windows 10, and Google, the company behind Chrome, is working hard to fix some of its biggest problems: RAM usage and instability.
Chrome is known to use a lot of memory on a PC, especially when many tabs are open at once, and this can not only slow down the whole computer, but it can also make Chrome unable to respond and crash.
Microsoft and Google have been working on different ways to fix Chrome on Windows 10, and it looks like Windows 10’s TerminateProcess feature could help reduce browser crashes.
Added stability
Google has revealed that it uses TerminateProcess to help quit processes cleanly, and that “this will prevent some utility process crashes on Windows” and that “TerminateProcess has already helped a lot in many types of processes.”
Simply put, this means Chrome should run more efficiently in Windows 10, especially if you’re using it for long sessions with a lot of tabs open.
It is extremely annoying that your PC is slow to crawl or becomes unresponsive, which is why we welcome every step Google has taken to resolve these issues. Google continues to experiment with this feature, along with several other fixes, and we should see a lighter, more reliable Chrome browser in 2021.
