Google is showing Galaxy Z Fold / Flip 3 ads on YouTube

[ad_1]

In recent years, the Android team has released partner videos with Samsung highlighting how the operating system takes advantage of new hardware, like foldables. Google today released a curious trio of announcements about its apps running on the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3.

The most recent conversation-style video was posted on August 30 and titled “Android x Samsung Galaxy | A foldable future. It provided a basic user interface overview and was posted on Twitter, as well as YouTube.

Videos today are decidedly more like commercials at just 15 seconds. They all start with the Google logo that explodes into a grid of app icons (both consumer and Workspace):

Messages, TV, Sheets, Slides, Translate, YouTube, Gmail, One, Play Store, Meet, Duo, Lens, Assistant, Maps, Photos, YouTube Music, Calendar, Drive, Chrome and Docs.

A serve is then highlighted and we see this app on both types (hotdog and hamburger) of foldables. This includes the cover display and internal screen interaction. There’s a tagline “The future unfolds,” while everything is set to “Butter” by BTS.

  • New ways of looking Youtube on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 5G
  • New ways to call hands-free with Google Duo on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 5G and Z Flip3 5G
  • New ways to create hands-free with YouTube shorts on the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 5G

While proprietary services, optimized for new screen technology, are highlighted, the joint advertising on Google’s YouTube account is quite strange and straightforward. This channel has 10.2 million subscribers against 5.83 million for Samsung and 945,000 for Android.

There is no link to buy in the description or even read more, while there is a “Legal Warning” that “Flex Mode [is] supported at angles between 75 ° and 115 °. Google is probably also buying ads for this joint campaign with Samsung. It’s unclear which partnership led to this series of Google-Galaxy Fold announcements, and how long that will continue.
