Google Maps, one of Google’s best Android apps, will soon become even more useful for planning your driving route. As reported by Android PoliceGoogle has sent a message to members of the Google Maps preview program, informing them that it is working on a new feature that will automatically display estimated toll prices and “other potential expenses” on your sailing route. Members of the Google Maps preview program were also invited to complete a survey to help the Maps development team implement the feature.
The message states that estimated toll prices would appear along a driving route before the user selects it, making it easier for them to decide on a route. Currently, the Google Maps app can only notify users if a route has tolls. Even if you are part of the preview program, however, you will have to wait to be able to access the functionality.

Waze, which was acquired by Google eight years ago, rolled out a similar feature to users in 2019. The app estimates toll prices based on information added by the Waze community. In addition to the United States and Canada, the feature is currently available in thirteen other countries.
Since the feature has already been confirmed by Google, it will likely start rolling out to users in the coming weeks. Unfortunately, it’s not clear if the feature will be available globally.
It is highly likely that Google Maps will also rely on user data to estimate toll prices. Google last month extended overcrowding forecasts to more than 10,000 transit agencies in 100 cities. Additionally, Google has also started testing live car-level congestion information for trains in New York and Sydney.
