Google does everything to make sure you look your best on video calls. After adding a low light mode to Meet last year, the company is rolling out a new feature that better illuminates your video when there is too much light behind you, which disrupts the camera exposure.

Unlike smartphones, most laptop cameras and webcams do not have an Image Signal Processor (ISP) to process the video stream. This may not properly expose a video, especially when there is light coming from behind the subject. As a result, subjects may appear underexposed and dull.

Adjusting the Google Meet light

With the video light adjustment, Meet will automatically improve the brightness of your camera feed to improve visibility, so you look your best. You’ll automatically be prompted to turn on the feature if Meet detects that your video is underexposed and that you have a compatible device.

The feature is only available in Meet on the web and iOS, according to support documents. Google warns that turning on the video light setting could slow down your PC.
