At the end of last year, Google launched News Showcase, an initiative to highlight interesting articles and bring them to the attention of more readers. Google even announced a subsidy for access to certain paid coins through the program. After initial rollouts in Germany and Brazil, Google introduced News Showcase in Australia last week – and now the company has announced it is arriving in even more countries.

Described by Google as “a product in which we support and pay publishers to organize their journalism just for you,” News Showcase begins arriving today for readers in the UK and Argentina. 120 publishers participate in the UK, with names like The Financial Times, The Telegraph and Reuters included. In Argentina, 40 news publications are on board, including the country’s two largest newspapers.

Readers in those countries will soon be able to access News Showcase panels curated by editors and presented by Google artificial intelligence. Today’s launch also includes access to some paywall content, giving users the ability to read more content from a post than they otherwise would.

Google says the panels are already showing up in Google News on Android, iOS, and the mobile web, as well as the Discover feed on iOS. The company plans to introduce them in other versions of these products in the coming months – as well as launching the product in new countries.
