The company is also presenting a new story panel in News Showcase that will host a selection of articles from your favorite publishers. The articles that appear in this section will be selected by the editors who wrote them. The company also plans to highlight posts it thinks you’ll want to start reading in the For You feed, as well as a new dedicated section in Newstand on Google News.
If you have an iPhone and iPad, now you have the chance to see what the News Showcase is all about, Google is expanding the availability of the News Showcase to iOS devices where you can access the feature through Google News. In the near term, the company plans to integrate News Showcase on the Google News website, as well as the Discover feed.
The company ends its update by noting that more publishers have signed up for the program. At the launch, nearly 200 publishers said they would participate in the news showcase. Two months later, that number doubled to almost 400 publications, with outlets in countries like Canada, the UK and France. Notably, some of the places where Google has added new partners are countries where the country has faced legal or antitrust challenges.
