Google Pay now automatically imports loyalty cards and tickets from Gmail

Google Pay can now automatically import loyalty cards, tickets and offers from your Gmail account. The feature, spotted for the first time by 9to5Google, announces that using it "You will not get other offers, it will simply be easier to use".

When I tried the feature for myself, Google Pay managed to grab a single entry for me: a member ID for my United Airlines loyalty account. 9to5Google reports that the service was able to get several coupons and reward points when he tried it.

You can activate it yourself in the Google Pay settings menu under "General" and then press the "Gmail Import" button.

After activating the settings, your coupons automatically appear in the Passes section of the application.

The new feature, which was seen the first time tested in February, is similar to what Apple Wallet already offers. The main iOS app is able to store boarding cards, tickets and loyalty cards, but it relies on manual addition of cards rather than on their automatic extraction.

Google did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the new feature to understand the extent of its deployment.
