The Google Pixel 6 is expected in the next few months, and now the CEO of Google has commented for the first time on the next line of smartphones.
While Sundar Pichai didn’t refer to the Google Pixel 6 or Google Pixel 6 XL by name, he did refer to the company’s “fall hardware lineup”, which is expected to heavily include its next flagship phone. .
Pichai said, “I’m very excited about our fall lineup, which will showcase Android 12 and some of the deep tech investments that help us push the boundaries. “
Pichai continued, “Pixel remains at the heart of this long-term strategy and I’m proud of how the team continues to deliver the best of Google through our line of useful devices, including Nest and Fitbit. You can see all of these devices. in our first retail store in New York and look forward to seeing new ones soon. “
It doesn’t give us anything firm around the Google Pixel 6, but if Pichai starts teasing upcoming phones, we can probably expect to hear more about the new handsets in the months to come.
Analysis: what are the deep technological investments?
Google’s “deep technology investments” that Pichai refers to are unconfirmed, but there is a strong suspicion that he will be referring to the chipset you would expect in the Google Pixel 6 series.
Numerous leaks and rumors, including a detailed report from 9to5Google, suggest that Google is working on its first processor, so future phones won’t feature Qualcomm chipsets like previous Pixel handsets.
The new chipset is believed to be codenamed Whitechapel, and it apparently was developed entirely with the Pixel series in mind. It’s unclear exactly what this chipset will be capable of achieving that a third-party option can’t.
We’ll have to wait until the Google Pixel 6 debuts to see just how powerful this Whitechapel alternative to the Snapdragon 888 and other high-end chipsets really is. We expect to receive official news on the Google Pixel 6 towards the end of 2021.
