At its annual developer conference, Google expanded its family of devices for the home assistant and renamed the entire family. The new Nest Hub Max is the 10-inch version of the current Google Home Hub with some additional features. From now on, the entire device family of the wizard will go under the Nest brand. So, the Home Hub will now call the Nest Hub, and so on.
The new Nest Max Hub features a 10-inch touch screen, which makes it larger than the original Nest Hub. It also puts it more in line with partner devices, such as Lenovo's Smart Display for Google Assistant. In addition to Google's virtual assistant, the Nest Max Hub includes a smart home control system that allows you to ask the assistant to turn on smart lights, set thermostats and to play music from a single device. It also supports threads in the same way as Nest Connect, so that it can control low-power devices compatible with threads, such as smart door locks.
A flagrant omission from the Nest Hub was a camera, but Google corrected the problem with the Nest Hub Max. The tiny camera at the top of the screen can function as a Nest home security camera, allowing you to see what's happening at home, even when you're away. Most standard Nest features apply, including motion alerts and notifications when the camera detects someone you do not know at home.
The camera also supports video calls with Google Duo. You can make and receive calls using the Google video chat application from many devices, including iOS mobile devices and any PC with a Chrome browser.
A green light indicates that the camera is active. Google claims that video recording and streaming can only be done intentionally and that users can electronically disable the camera and microphone by using the physical switch located on the back of the device. Nest Hub Max.
Google has also extended its optional voice matching feature with the new face-mapping feature on Nest Hub Max. If you choose to enable this feature, the device's camera will create a face pattern that it can use to recognize you when you pass the camera. When it successfully recognizes your face or the face of another person in your household, information, such as reminders specific to your Google profile, will display. All information used in Face Match is processed locally on the device and face templates are encrypted so that your data does not leave your home.
The larger Nest Hub Max design should make it a better multimedia device than the Nest Hub. The display can stream live TV from YouTube TV in addition to playing music from YouTube Music. It also has a rear-facing woofer, which should help it deliver louder and better music than the previous hub.
The Nest Hub Max will be launched in the US, UK and Australia later this summer for $ 229. The Nest Hub will remain available, but it will now cost $ 129 (instead of $ 149).
