Google rolls back update that gave people free access to a Nest Aware benefit

If you own a Google Home, you’ve noticed that it does something it hasn’t done before. Around the beginning of August, Google falsely rolled out an update to its smart speakers that gave some people free access to a perk that came with their Nest Aware subscription. This specific feature alerts you when your Home or Nest device hears a broken glass or a smoke alarm go off.

Since the feature went live without an explanation from Google, it has led some to believe their smart speaker is listening to everyday sounds and invading their privacy. The error should now be resolved, however.
