FLORIDA SOUTHWEST – If you have an alarm system or Nest security, the company just admit that there is a microphone hidden in the device.

Google stated that it was a mistake and that they had forgotten that their product included the specifications of the microphone. Google also announced that the microphone was never turned on unless someone turned it on.

Some people said that's why they do not trust smart appliances for the home.

"Probably not – it's a huge red flag for me," said Brianna Hayes.

John Benkert of Fort Myers, an expert in cyber security, based at Cigent Technology, said your best protection against hidden microphones is to unplug the device when you're not using it.
