To supplement existing automatic deletion controls for search history, Google during I / O 2021 announced a way to quickly delete your last 15 minutes of queries on Android and iOS apps. This shortcut now deploys on the latter platform.
In mobile apps, by tapping on your profile avatar, a new “Delete last 15 minutes” button will appear under “Search History”. On iOS, Google already offers an Incognito mode, but it could provide a more streamlined experience. It’s similar to the “Hey Google, delete everything I told you last week” or “Hey Google, that wasn’t for you” commands on Assistant where accidental keyword activations sometimes occur.
It joins the ability to automatically delete search history (web and app activity) every 3, 18, or 36 months, with this intermediate increment being the current default for new accounts. Google says this shortcut is now available for iOS, but we have yet to meet it, while it will be available on Android later this year.
Google also officially announced today the ability to lock the My Activity page behind additional login verification with your credentials so users of shared devices don’t have much leeway over your personal information.
