Killing Beloved Products Can Be Hard To Do, But Google Has Got It pretty one good over the years. The company even built a cemetery filled with its own Halloween products last year. Now it looks like another gravestone needs to be installed, as Google has announced it will be sending Expeditions, its educational VR touring app, on one final outing – and it won’t be coming back.

The Expeditions app will close for good next year on June 30. With more kids learning at home this year, Google says it has realized that producing immersive experiences that require VR headsets isn’t the most realistic idea going forward.

Existing Expeditions RV tours will be moved to the Google Arts & Culture app / website so that explorers can continue to experience them for free in the future. That’s great to hear, as the Expeditions team have created over 800 super cool VR and AR experiences over the past five years, ranging from Da Vinci creations to dinosaurs. It’s a shame Google can’t guide Expeditions to a place that has allowed it to thrive in today’s educational environment, but at least that will make visiting Google’s graveyard a little more exciting.

If you’re in the mood for an education, download the Expeditions app from APK Mirror or the Play Store and try an adventure for yourself before it’s permanently disconnected.
