Updates that add features such as additional HDR support or strange problem solving are good for smart TVs, but as many of us have known, there may be a disadvantage. Software updates delivered months or years after the purchase of a TV could alter the interface or worsen the situation, or add "features" that are actually only generating opportunities of income. A "pilot program" appearing on Android TVs (which includes most of Sony's recent programs, even expensive models) combines these two problems by adding a row of sponsored content that nobody has asked.
That no one apparently includes Sony, which has released a new support page stating that the change is handled by Google. Even if the owners of their TVs bought screens without the ads and did not expect them to appear, there is no way to disable them. Sony suggests instead to create a new Restricted profile that lists only the applications that users choose to stream.
