Google tests a play button for the Chrome toolbar

It seems that Google will soon add a play button to its Chrome browser, as indicated by ZDnet and Techdows. The button will appear in the Chrome toolbar and allow users to play or pause a video or music being played on a tab.

This feature is called Global Media Controls and is currently being tested in Chrome's development browser, Canary. Once activated, the feature appears next to the URL field and highlights what is currently playing, even if it is on a different tab.

If you have the Canary browser and want to test it yourself, you can go to its experiences page, chrome: // flags /, and search for "Global Media Controls." When the result is displayed, you can activate it. . After restarting the browser, a small play button appears next to the URL field. Once you have listened to a song or video, this function allows you to go forward or back, pause or play the file. It works with video sites like YouTube and Vimeo, as well as Apple and Spotify's podcast pages, although if you have multiple tabs that read something (for example, if a page starts to play a video automatically), pull the original.

The moment the button is active for the Chrome main browser is not yet known, but it seems like a useful feature. In the past, Google had introduced some useful features in this direction: an indicator to know which tab was playing, the ability to disable an individual tab and, more recently, the ability to disable a site permanently. This seems to be the logical next step: pause the song or video you were listening to so you can listen to something else quickly.
