"It is essential that we respect this trust and uphold the integrity of our products and services.The guidelines are an official policy and apply when employees communicate at their workplace."

The updated guidelines follow a few tumultuous years within the company regarding employee uprisings. Google has decided not to renew its work with the Ministry of Defense, known as Project Maven, after thousands of protesters from Googlers.
