Google, in a rare move, has pre-announced that they would release a major update tomorrow. They call this Google Search Algorithm Update update the June 2019 update and tomorrow Google will release this update.
Here's what Google posted at 4pm EDT on Sunday:
Tomorrow we publish an update of the main algorithms, as we do several times a year. This is called the main update of June 2019. Our advice regarding these updates remains the same as those previously described. Please see this tweet for more on this subject: https://t.co/tmfQkhdjPL

Google's Danny Sullivan said that this specific update was not particularly bulky or special, but that it was neither anything special nor "big" particular. "It is only one of their regular updates, the only reason they pre-announced that it was to be nice."
Danny wrote, "We just wanted to be more proactive, rather than letting people scratch their heads afterwards and ask" hmm? "We thought it would be good to just inform people before the project launch."
Nothing special or particular "big". This is the usual type of main updates that we do regularly. We just wanted to be more proactive. Rather than letting people scratch their heads afterwards and ask "hmm?", We thought it would be good to just inform people before the program was launched.

So, no – not particularly big.
It will be posted tomorrow. Google will update us as it begins to go live:
That's from tomorrow, as shown in the tweet. There will also be a follow-up response to this tweet when it's live, although it may be a bit live before the tracking tweet happens.

Why pre-announce? Again, to be nice and do not let us scratch our heads and ask what's going on:
Because we just wanted to be more proactive in communicating about key updates. Rather than let people wonder after the fact and try to catch up with a confirmation, we only thought we would give notice earlier.

This update has no connection to the problems Google has with Gmail, their cloud services and other services on Sunday:
It is independent. I do not know why these services are down, but it has nothing to do with the update.

In addition, this problem is not related to the indexing problems of the previous weeks:
No.

We saw signs of a possible Google release in mid-last week. It's hard to say if this is related to this, as if Google was testing last week. Google would deny it and we have no way of really knowing it.
We will of course follow what the community says about this update. The last basic update was in March, we spotted it before Google confirmed it on March 13th.
