Google bought the "smart watch technology" at Fossil Group for $ 40 million earlier this year, which also included part of Fossil's research and development team. The details of the deal remained secret, but a new Wareable report says it was centered on a hybrid smartwatch concept called "Diana" that Google could use in future products.

According to the report, Misfit was working on a hybrid smartwatch product codenamed "Diana" when the company was acquired by Fossil in 2015. Numerous product variants were developed, combining physical intelligence and digital features. . Some of the designs have screens, others do not.

Although Google could use hybrid smartwatch technology in its own products, the acquisition seemed more focused on the engineering team than what it was working on. Fossil apparently would not have been pleased with the expenses incurred to support his engineering talents, and internal disagreements had broken out between engineers and Fossil's senior management. The former Misfit team reportedly launched the idea of using "marketing data and monthly cloud payments" to boost revenue, which Fossil pushed back.

A hardware event is scheduled for October 15 in Google. As a result, the first product developed by the former Fossil / Misfit team will be presented. A hybrid Smartwatch / Health Google tracking could be interesting.
