Google’s Nest Audio may or may not have a home theater trick up its sleeve

But it looks like Google originally intended to offer such a feature – and we wonder if the company might still introduce it in the coming months.

As 9to5Google points out that Google apparently forgot to remove a fairly revealing word arrangement from the HTML source for its Nest Audio product page:

The UK version of the page even had an alternate localization of the same sentence, suggesting intent.

There are not many ways to interpret this sentence. Here are a few that come to mind:

1. Google was working on exactly what we wanted, but decided to remove the feature before launch and forgot to update part of its website.
2. Google is now working on exactly what we wanted, and quietly put a hint into their website.
3. Someone who was building the website seriously misinterpreted their instructions and made a funny mistake.

But while it would have been easy to admit the mistake, this is not the direction Google chose to take: the company says The edge he has “no news on this front,” which suggests he’s more likely to be No.1 or No.2.

We don’t know which one, but it wouldn’t be too surprising if the feature arrives in a future software update. We already know that the new Chromecast with Google TV is expected to be updated with support for Google Stadia cloud play in the first half of 2021. Perhaps it will add speaker pairing as well.
