Google's next flagship smartphone will be launched on October 15

Google sent invitations for the latest hardware event "Made by Google". On October 15, the company will officially launch the Pixel 4 and probably a multitude of other materials. The livestream is already registered on YouTube, with a launch time at 10:00 am.

Pixel 4 is the least well kept secret of the year. In addition to leaks from the usual suspects and the public announcement made by Google of the device's features, any semblance of secrecy was killed last week when several Vietnamese YouTubers seized a prototype of Pixel 4 and have started to publish complete video reviews.

Key features of the Pixel 4 include a 90Hz OLED display (such as the OnePlus 7 Pro), two rear cameras and a time-of-flight sensor (the first multi-camera rear configuration for a Pixel phone), as well a thick upper cover. packed with sensors for things like face recognition (apparently the only biometric form supported) and aerial gestures. Air gestures (which require you to wave your hand over the phone screen to control it) have already been tried on phones with generally poor results. For the Pixel 4 however, Google uses a radar sensor "Soli" that it has developed internally, which hopefully will make this feature more useful.

As usual, we expect two phones, this year offering OLED screens of 5.7 inches and 6.3 inches. The specs are a bit behind the competition, with the Snapdragon 855 instead of the Snapdragon 855+, faster, only 6GB of RAM instead of the 8GB of RAM of other phones in this price range and batteries that seem rather small.

Pixel phones from Google have always been on the software, however. With this release, you will get Android 10 and probably the Google "new generation" wizard announced at Google I / O 2019 as "destined for new Pixel phones". There is also the configuration of the highest camera of the Pixel, which this year puts the emphasis on astrophotography.

In parallel with the annual launch of the smartphone, Google is also used to launch a multitude of other materials. This year, we are expecting a second generation of Google Home Mini (probably renamed "Google Nest Mini") with better sound and an auxiliary jack, and maybe even a Google Pixelbook 2, codenamed "Atlas", which is appeared on the FCC. in July. With Wi-Fi 6 ready for devices, the time has also come to install a new Google Wi-Fi network. Various Chromium commits have given a glimpse of a new generation version of Google's mesh router.
