Google's Stadia platform hit the headlines by announcing the streaming service earlier this year. The company recently introduced pricing and availability details, as well as some of the initial games that will be available on the platform.
There is still a ton of questions about Stadia. And 9to5Google's eagle-eyed people noticed that the company had quietly updated the Stadia FAQ on Google support, sharing more details about the platform. One of the notable changes was the addition of a new section that describes what would happen in the case of a publisher who drops out of the platform.
Google says that once you have bought a game on Stadia, you will continue to play even if the publisher pulls it from the Stadia game. However, there are still many gray areas. According to Google, Stadia "will aim for any previously purchased title to be available for play" outside of "unforeseen circumstances". And while this is promising, these "unforeseen" circumstances could be very different.
There have been many cases of game publishers removing their games from the stores in the past, so this gives a little hope to Stadia customers who are afraid of losing their games. For example, if Microsoft makes an agreement with a game publisher, forcing the publisher to remove the game from Stadia, you can still play Stadia. At least that's the plan, of course. But let's not forget the "unforeseen" circumstances.
