Google’s Task Mate will save you money by doing “simple” things!

Google is currently testing a new application called Task Mate for its Android platform. While the name points to some sort of automation tool, it actually isn’t. According to a report by 9to5Mobile, Task Mate is an app that allows users to “earn money by doing simple tasks on their smartphones.” It sounds like Google Opinion Rewards, but it isn’t. Task Mate seems to be more of a toned version of the old one.

Task Mate is currently only available for selected testers!

As mentioned earlier, Task Mate is currently in the early access testing phase where Google has kept access “limited to certain users”. The search engine giant follows a referral code system, meaning more testers might be able to join using referral code from an already tester. Although you can download the app from the Google Play Store, you cannot proceed without a referral code.

Unlike Google Opinion Rewards, Task Mate allows users to “cash out” by linking an in-app wallet or payment partner. For those who don’t know, Opinion Rewards only gives Play Store credit in exchange for completed tasks. Moreover, Google does not limit the tasks to its own services. Together with Task Mate, he will present the tasks that come from “companies around the world”. According to Google, the tasks to be accomplished are quite “simple”.

Google has classified the tasks into two, namely “Sitting” or “Field tasks”. As the name suggests, the former consists of tasks that you can accomplish without moving while the latter requires you to walk. Basically, “Field Tasks” will track how many minutes you have to walk. For example, Google may ask you to go to a particular location nearby and take a photo of a business present there. For Seated, some of the tasks include “Record spoken sentences”, “Transcribe sentences” and “Check store details”.

These types of tasks are not present in Google Opinion Rewards and in fact they are mostly limited to survey questions. That said, the app is currently in early access and we expect it to be available to the public soon. It would be interesting to see if Task Mate will replace Google Opinion Rewards or if the two apps coexist.
