Google's voice matching feature paralyzes

Remember when Google removed the ability to use voice mapping to go beyond the lock screen on Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL? Well, 9to5Google now reports that Google has removed the aforementioned Voice Match feature for each Android device.

Instead of unlocking your device entirely, Voice Match now presents you with a list of Google Assistant's "personal results". Possible verbal and visual responses include e-mail, Google Calendar entries, contacts, reminders, memory aids, and shopping lists. If you wish to obtain other results or full access to your phone, you will need to unlock the handset as you normally would.

The idea behind the disapproval of the "Unlock with Voice Mail" feature is probably to improve security. When you have previously enabled the feature, a pop-up message notifies you that it is not a secure feature: a voice or similar recording of your voice may unlock the device.

In addition, removing the unlock capability means that Voice Match is now reproducing the behavior seen on Google Home's speakers and dynamic screens.

At the same time, the elimination of the Unlock option with voice correspondence also removes any thoughts you had about using your device completely hands-free. Even if you say something as innocuous as "playing music", you will need to unlock the device for the command to be executed.

If you want to keep the Unlock option with voice match, you do not have a say: its removal is part of a server-side update, and not an update. day of the Google application. Once the update is obtained, open the Google application and go to More > settings > Google Assistant > Phone. You should now see the "Unlock with voice match" toggle switch replaced by a "Personal results on the lock screen" toggle switch.
