Google’s VPN service is now available outside the United States

Google One’s VPN has only been available in the United States since the service launched last year. Google has now rolled out the service to a handful of new locations, including Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Spain, and the UK. However, some restrictions remain in place, including the fact that you will no longer be able to use the VPN if you are traveling outside of these countries.

Second, this benefit is only open to Google One subscribers at the 2TB (or higher) plan level. If you haven’t already and want to sign up, the Google One plan with 2TB of data storage will set you back $ 9.99 per month or a reduced annual rate of $ 100. Another thing to keep in mind is that VPN is only available on Android devices. Google has mentioned that it will eventually roll out support for Windows, Mac, and iOS at launch, but didn’t offer an exact timeline.

Google One VPN was rated as providing “robust” security by an independent audit, but commissioned earlier this year with Google immediately addressing most of the issues that were raised. That said, the high-level Google One subscription requirement and lack of device support keeps the VPN at the same level as before. This is a useful perk for subscribers, but not a mainstream VPN competitor, although it is available in a few other locations.
