Rep. Andrew Clyde, R-Ga., On Wednesday announced an official appeal of fines from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif. He incurred for refusing to follow metal detector protocols.
“Today, with the help of my private lawyer, I appealed the fines that I incurred due to my refusal to respect the unconstitutional placement of magnetometers by President Nancy Pelosi in front of the entrance to the public prosecutor’s office in the House of Representatives, ”Clyde wrote. in a report.
Clyde claimed the installation of the magnetometers was part of an effort to treat Republican lawmakers “like a threat.”
“The ongoing militarization of Capitol Hill, including the placement of metal fences, barbed wire and the deployment of National Guard troops, is also part of this perverse strategy,” he wrote.

In a YouTube video, Clyde feared Democrats would be pushing their way towards introducing legislation that would create a “litmus test” for anyone wishing to serve in the military or government.
The Georgia congressman said he filed his appeal with the House Ethics Committee.
A spokesperson for Pelosi’s office did not return Fox News’ request for comment.

As previously reported by Fox News, Republicans are pushing Pelosi to pay his own fine for bypassing the magnetometers.
A first violation results in a penalty of $ 5,000. But continued non-compliance increases the fine to $ 10,000 for additional violations.
The metal detectors were installed in the House following the Jan.6 siege on Capitol Hill and were contested by some Republicans from the start.
