McCarthy, in an interview with Greta Van Susteren aired on Sunday, argued that he supported maintaining Cheney in her role as No. 3 Republican in the House, but said she had not informed him of her decision to impeach Trump before voting.

“Listen, I support her, but I also have concerns. She took a stand as the # 3 member of the conference. She never told me beforehand. One thing about leadership, if we are to work together we have to understand. We know this is going to become a challenge, ”he said.

Cheney’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Hill.
