Gordon Ramsay is causing a stir again, and this time it’s for a burger priced at $ 106 (£ 80) – no fries included.

The Michelin-starred chef opens Gordon Ramsay Burger at London’s iconic Harrods department store, which promises to “give a taste of America, without the transatlantic journey.”

Ramsay Restaurant doesn’t open until December 4, but it’s already making headlines because of the expensive Wagyu burger. The dish, according to Hot Dinners, includes a beef patty, seared Wagyu sirloin, Pecorino cheese with truffles, porcini mayonnaise, and fresh black truffles.

An order of fries on the side will set you back $ 8 (£ 6) more.

The other dishes at Ramsay’s new restaurant are cheaper, although not very cheap.

The $ 56 (£ 42) Lobster and Shrimp Burger features a pan-seared lobster and rock patty, along with pickled veggies, herb aioli, and curly. The $ 33 (£ 25) Hell’s Kitchen burger features Mozzarella cheese, roasted jalapeños, avocado, roasted tomatoes, and jalapeño aioli.

One of the cheapest burgers on the menu is the $ 28 (£ 21) American Burger, a basic version that includes a beef patty, American cheese, tomato, pickles, red onion, butter lettuce and a burger relish, according to the Mirror. You can also get the “Cheeky Dawg” – a hot dog with a braised beef cheek, horseradish, and homemade pickles – for the same price.

Prices are significantly higher than the dishes at Ramsay’s original Gordon Ramsay Burger in Las Vegas, where the most expensive burger on the menu – the Truffle Burger – will only set you back $ 25 by comparison.

Gordon Ramsay has promised supporters the new London restaurant will deliver ‘a burger experience like no other’

“I promise you will never have tasted anything as delicious as the incredible burgers at Gordon Ramsay Burger,” Ramsay told Hot Dinners. “I’ve been perfecting burgers for years in America and now at Harrods we’re taking it to the next level.”

According to the restaurant’s website, Ramsay’s burger patties feature a mix of “chuck, brisket and rib cap” and will be “cooked to perfection over an open flame.” They will then be brushed with Ivy House Farm butter “for an extra touch of nutty sweetness”.

“As you’d expect from Michelin-starred chef Gordon Ramsay, these aren’t your average quarter pounds,” the website adds.

But some on social media weren’t impressed with the sky-high prices, especially during a pandemic

“It would be nice if all of these millionaire celebrity chefs could meet the budgets of normal people and not other millionaires,” one commentator wrote on Instagram.

“£ 80 is more than I have left for food for the month at the moment. Thanks for that,” another added on Twitter.

A representative for Ramsay did not immediately respond to Insider’s request for comment.

And this is not the first time that Ramsay has been criticized for the prices of his restaurants.

In September, many called the star “MasterChef” for serving a small but pricey full English breakfast at his Savoy Grill restaurant in London.

The $ 24 (£ 19) dish includes two eggs, a few slices of bacon, a portobello mushroom, a grilled tomato, a link of pork sausage and a gravy boat of baked beans.

Many Ramsay followers have asked “where’s the rest?” and noted that full English breakfasts are generally known for their large portions.

But in typical Ramsay fashion, the “MasterChef” star didn’t let all the criticism go. Instead, he unleashed his famous “silly sandwich”.
