Gorka says that Jeanine Pirro is "absolutely right" to suggest that Omar's hijab means that she is against the Constitution

"She's absolutely right," Gorka told Salem Radio Network's "America First with Sebastian Gorka" show, according to an audio clip released by Media Matters.

"The hijab is a requirement of the religion of Islam, it is part of sharia law, the Sharia does not respect the American Constitution, Judge Jeanine we have your back, keep the line, you are telling the truth."

Gorka, who left the White House in August 2017, added that Pirro should not apologize for the argument that she has advanced "because that is the truth".

Her comments were voiced as Pirro faced controversial reactions from many circles following controversial remarks she had made about Omar, one of the first two Muslim women elected to Congress. Last year and the first to wear a hijab in the House.

Pirro asked Saturday for "Justice with Judge Jeanine" if Omar's hijab was "revealing" of Shari'a complicity while condemning earlier statements of the first Congressman on Israel and pro-Israel groups, that many have interpreted as anti-Semites.

"Omar is wearing a hijab that, according to Koran 33:59, asks women to cover themselves so as not to be molested," Pirro said. "Is his adherence to this Islamic doctrine revealing his adherence to Sharia law, which in itself is antithetical to the US Constitution?"

"Your party is not anti-Israel, it is," Pirro continued later. "So if it does not come from the party, where does it come from?"

Fox News issued a statement Sunday "strongly condemning" the words of Pirro.

"They do not reflect those of the network and we approached the problem with it directly," said the network.

Pirro also tried to clarify his remarks, saying in a statement that "his intention was to ask a question and start a debate".

"But of course, being a Muslim does not mean you do not support the Constitution," Pirro said. "I invite Representative Omar to participate in my show at any time to discuss all the important issues that America faces today."

Gorka contributed to Fox News between November 2017 and March of this year. He left the network earlier this month to become a national contributor to Sinclair.
