Monet gives me major Blair vibes.

Hello, Upper East Siders! Gossip Girl (2.0) is back!

The new series started airing on HBO Max yesterday, and we were introduced to a whole new group of characters (with a few brief mentions of the old one).

While the reboot features completely different characters, there’s no denying the similarities between them and some of the original personalities we’ve grown to love.

In honor of the reboot’s release, here are the 2021 cast side-by-side in their Pilot vs OG 2007 cast:

Jordan Alexander and Blake Lively

HBO Max

So far, Julien (Jordan Alexander) seems a lot more balanced than the ever-dramatic Serena (Blake Lively), but they both struggle with the battle between good versus evil and if they care more about keeping up appearances. or maintain good relations.

Savannah Smith and Leighton Meester

HBO Max

Monet (Savannah Smith) yelled at me Blair (Leighton Meester) from the moment she stepped onto the screen. The manners, the desire to rule, the constant power play between her and those much older her – and, of course, her preppy style.

Eli Brown and Chace Crawford

HBO Max

Two “poor little rich” with hearts of gold who have a tense family dynamic. In the 2007 pilot, it’s already obvious that Nate (Chace Crawford) is on Blair, in the same way it’s obvious in the reboot that Obie (Eli Brown) is on Julian.

Whitney Peak and Penn Badgley

HBO Max

Empathetic, hardworking, and “good” characters, each on the “wrong side of the slopes” (aka Brooklyn). They both want to be a part of the rich children’s world while maintaining their self-esteem.

Emily Alyn Lind and Taylor Momsen

HBO Max

In terms of looks, these two feel good. I think the similarity in their personalities lies in their desperate need for attention and their anxious energy.

Thomas Doherty and Ed Westwick

HBO Max

Ah yes, the sexually promiscuous bad boy characters. Max (Thomas Doherty) and Chuck (Ed Westwick) love to party and don’t take themselves too seriously. And based on that scene between Audrey and Max, it looks like Max could follow in Chuck’s footsteps and be the character who’s causing trouble just for the fun of it.
