Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced that 217,721 COVID-19 test results were reported yesterday in New York State – a new record.
“We know what’s going on with the numbers because we’ve seen the movie in New York, we’ve seen the movie across the country. The positivity is increasing, the more people get sick, the more people go to the hospital, more people go to intensive care, more people are intubated and the death toll is rising. Compared to the rest of the country, New York State is still doing incredibly well and that is thanks to the good deeds of New Yorkers “Said Governor Cuomo.” On the winter front, we will stay with the micro-cluster approach because it targets the spread, minimizes the economic impact and emphasizes individual and community responsibility. So it works great, and all the experts think it’s state of the art. The winter plan will have three things: First, adding extra factors to the micro clusters. Second, schools and testing schools to keep them open at a pace e sustainable. Third, a vaccine distribution plan. Happy Thanksgiving. Celebrate, do it safe. Let’s not create more problem. Again, people must appreciate the dichotomy here. The spread will come from pre-symptomatic people who don’t even know they have it. It’s not that they’re going to be malicious. It will be accidental and unintentional. So what seems safe is no longer safe in this crazy world. “
The governor noted that the rate of positive tests in all areas of intervention under the state’s micro-cluster strategy is 4.90 percent, and outside the focus areas is 2, 68 percent. In the focus areas, 49,195 test results were reported yesterday, giving 2,412 positive results. In the rest of the state, not counting these areas of interest, 168,526 test results were reported, giving 4,521 positive.
