Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced a further extension of COVID-19 vaccine eligibility in New York City. Starting Tuesday, March 30 at 8 a.m., all New Yorkers 30 years and older can receive the vaccine. As of April 6, universal eligibility goes into effect and all New Yorkers 16 and older will be eligible to receive the vaccine.
In addition, the governor announced that more than 2 million total doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered at mass vaccination sites managed by New York State and assisted by FEMA. Statewide, more than 9 million total doses have been administered at all vaccination sites. 171,419 doses have been administered through the state’s extensive distribution network in the past 24 hours, and over 1.3 million doses have been administered in the past seven days. Delivery of the week 16 allowance begins mid-week.
“Today we are taking a monumental step forward in the fight to defeat COVID. Starting March 30, all New Yorkers aged 30 or over will be eligible for the vaccine, and all New Yorkers aged 16 or over will be eligible on April 6, well ahead of the May 1 deadline set. by the White House, ” Governor Cuomo said. “As we continue to expand eligibility, New York will double its efforts to make the vaccine accessible to all communities to ensure fairness, especially for communities of color who are too often left behind. New York’s vast distribution network and large population of eligible individuals still far exceed supply from the federal government. Due to the limited supply, New Yorkers are encouraged to remain patient and are advised not to show up to walk-in vaccination sites.
The “Am I Eligible” screening tool has been updated for people with co-morbidities and underlying conditions, with new appointments being posted on an ongoing basis over the coming weeks. New Yorkers can use the following to show they are eligible:
- Letter from doctor, or
- Medical information proving the comorbidity, or
- Signed certification
Immunization schedule numbers below are for doses distributed and delivered to New York City for the state immunization program, and do not include those reserved for the federal long-term care program. A breakdown of the data based on figures released to New York State at 11 a.m. today is as follows.

New Yorkers looking to determine their eligibility and make an appointment at a state-run mass immunization site can visit the “Am I Eligible” website. New Yorkers can also call their local health department, pharmacy, doctor, or hospital for more information and to schedule appointments where vaccines are available.
The COVID-19 Vaccine Tracking Dashboard is available to notify New Yorkers of the COVID-19 vaccine distribution. New York State Department of Health requires immunization centers to report all COVID-19 vaccine administration data within 24 hours; Vaccine administration data on the dashboard is updated daily to reflect the most up-to-date metrics of the state’s immunization effort.
New Yorkers who suspect fraud in the vaccine distribution process can now call 833-VAX-SCAM (833-829-7226) toll-free or email the State Department of Health at [email protected]. Hotline staff will route complaints to the appropriate investigative agencies to ensure New Yorkers are not being exploited as the state works to vaccinate all eligible populations.
