Colorado Governor Jared Polis and First Gentleman Marlon Reis have tested positive for COVID-19, the governor tweeted on Saturday evening.
Polis and Reis are “asymptomatic, feel good and will continue to isolate themselves at home.”
“Marlon and I are feeling great so far and are in a good mood,” Polis said in a statement.
Polis said he will work remotely and “will continue to fulfill his duties and responsibilities”. Polis began quarantine on Wednesday after learning he had been exposed to someone who tested positive for COVID-19.
The new coronavirus has increased in Colorado and across the country. The state estimated on Tuesday that one in 41 people here is contagious, and Polis and other officials have been warning for weeks of a potential catastrophic overload of the state’s healthcare system.
Polis said: “No person or family is immune to the virus. I urge each Coloradan to exercise caution, limit public interaction, wear a mask in public, stay six feet from others, and wash their hands regularly. “
