Grading Wolverines wins over northern Illinois

Michigan football dominated northern Illinois on Saturday and here are the scores for the Wolverines 63-10 victory.

You can feel the optimism surrounding Michigan’s football schedule after a third straight win to open the season in a dominant fashion.

The Wolverines have won two of the three games against the MAC teams, but overall Michigan’s three wins have been averaged 36 points. That’s an impressive margin of victory.

Michigan football also leads the country in the rush and the execution of the offense has been something to see. It’s an average of 47 points per game that ranks third in the FBS, while the defense allows only 11 points per game, which is 10th.

Michigan is now ranked 19th in the AP poll and all analysis is very supportive of the Wolverines’ 3-0 start. However, none of this matters. Only one victory at a time.

The Big Ten game starts next week and it’ll be a new challenge, but here’s the tally of the win over northern Illinois.

Offense: A +

You can hardly play better than the Wolverines on the offensive end of the ball on Saturday. Michigan football has scored nine touchdowns over its first nine possessions. The Wolverines converted 8 of 14 third / fourth chances and scored in the red zone each time.

With 373 rushing yards and over 600 total yards, as well as eight rushing touchdowns and even 223 passing yards, including an 87-yard touchdown from Cade McNamara to Cornelius Johnson, the Wolverines dominated and were basically perfect.

Now the offense just needs to keep playing at this level with Rutgers coming to town on Saturday and many more challenges to come.
