Kenny Edmonds, better known to fans as Babyface, and his wife Nicole Pantenburg are going their separate ways after just over seven years of marriage.

The former couple released a joint statement, in which they made sure to underline their mutual respect and that their top priority was their 12-year-old daughter, Peyton.

“After careful consideration and with great sadness, we have decided to end our marriage. We continue to care and respect each other and share an undying love for our daughter and her well-being, ”they wrote in a statement.

They ended the statement, issued to The Explosion, while asking ‘privacy for ourselves and our daughter as we move through these new stages as a family.

So far, it’s unclear exactly what led to their decision to go their separate ways.

The singer, songwriter and record producer began dating Pantenburg when she was one of his reserve dancers in 2007. The California native has also been a personal friend and a reserve dancer of the superstar of the pop Janet Jackson.

The couple ended up getting married in 2007 and welcomed their daughter into the world the following year.

The Edmonds’ wedding ceremony was a lavish event that included famous guests like Oprah Winfrey and singer-songwriter Carole B. Sager.

Babyface (born Kenneth Brian Edmonds) was previously married to Tracey Edmonds (née Tracey Elaine McQuarn) for 13 years, from 1992 to 2005, and they share two sons, Brandon and Dylan.

When the now 54-year-old producer and television personality filed for divorce in Los Angeles County Superior Court, she cited “irreconcilable differences.”

Nicknamed “Babyface” because of his youthful appearance in his early years by Parliament-Funkadelic legend Bootsy Collins from Indiana has written and produced over 26 number one R&B hits and won 12 Grammy Awards during his career.

Some of the renowned artists he has worked with over the years include Michael Jackson, Bobby Brown, Patti LaBelle, Mariah Carey, Madonna, Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, Diana Ross, Beyoncé, Toni Braxton, Bruno Mars, Lil Wayne, Celine Dion, Faith Evans, Sheena Easton and many more.

In 2013, Babyface produced most of the songs on Ariana Grande’s debut album, Yours Truly, including second single, Baby I.

His latest studio album, Return of the Tender Lover (2015), which was his eighth in his career, paid off tribute to his classic 1989 album, Tender Lover.
