Gran Turismo 7 beta test appears on PlayStation website – GTPlanet

In a rather strange development, part of the official PlayStation website seems to confirm the existence of a Gran Turismo 7 Beta testing, with players invited to complete a simple task to access it.

Spotted by several users on GTPlanet and on social networks at large, the beta appears as part of an Experience PlayStation promotion. Experience PlayStation is a rarely used app designed to connect fans with special promotions for live experiences, which Sony launched in 2017 for the PlayStation Experience trade fair in Anaheim.

The road to beta is a bit complicated. First, players should head to the Experience PlayStation portion of the official website. Then they should select “Start Quest” and “Associated Campaigns”, before choosing “Italia Quest”. The quest “Gran Turismo Beta (Test)” is one of the four quests it contains. Although it appears to be part of a promotion for Italy, it is actually open globally.

All you have to do at this point is watch the original. Gran Turismo 7 run the demo to “unlock beta code sooner”, although the code given to all players appears to be a placeholder. Rather than the complex 12-digit code normally provided, it’s just 1234-5678-9012 – and won’t work if you try to redeem it.

All of this indicates quite strongly that this promotion itself appears to be a test that rather inadvertently appeared for public consumption. However, whether this specific feature is functional or not, this is the very first clue that a beta release for Gran Turismo 7 could exist, just as it did for Gran Turismo Sport.

As another curiosity, the reward code specifies “PS5 only”. This does not necessarily refer to GT7 – this could mean that only PS5 players can use the reward, or the beta can be exclusive to PS5 – but could revert to the suggestion that the game could have a PS4 version as a recent post on the PlayStation director’s PlayStation blog Studios, Hermen Hulst, seemed to imply.

It’s been a little while since Sony last updated on Gran Turismo 7, and that was only to confirm that the title had been pushed back to a 2022 launch window. The possibility of a beta test could indicate that we will start to see more development on the title – and with GT SportThe beta comes just seven months before the game’s release, a possible launch date soon as well.
