Cygames has confirmed that the next DLC character for the fighting game Granblue Fantasy Versus will be Vira. The announcement was made during the Granblue Fantasy Special summer live broadcast event held on August 7, 2021. XSEED then revealed that she will appear in December 2021.
The announcement consisted of little more than a character revealed during the stream. Those interested can check out the feed. The reveal appears at about 3 hours to 10 minutes.
The reveal also included some art for Vira as she appears in Granblue Fantasy Versus. Her clothes and outfit match her appearance in the core Granblue Fantasy game, though the key art suggests she can transform in some way. This may be a reference to his special power Luminiera Merge, in which Vira merges with the primitive beast Luminiera (known as “Knight” in Japan) to enhance his abilities.
Vira is the Lord Commander of the fortress town of Albion and an old friend of Katalina, who is on the core list of Granblue Fantasy Versus. Vira regards Katalina as something of an older sister and regards her with obsessive reverence. She is voiced by Asami Imai, who also played Kurisu Makise in Steins; Gate and Chihaya Kisaragi in The idol @ ster.
As a character present in the game shortly after its launch in 2014, Vira is one of the oldest and most popular characters in Granblue fantasy. She’s also someone with many variations in the game, with seven playable versions available for players to acquire. The recent Anniversary survey conducted by Famitsu earlier in 2021, Vira was tied for the seventh most popular female character.
Vira will come to Granblue Fantasy Versus in December 2021. The game itself is immediately available on PC and PS4. The most recently launched DLC character was Eternal Seox, which closed the season 2 additions list.
