Grandfather accused of fatal fall of toddler from cruise ship avoids jail

An Indiana man charged with the death of his 18-month-old granddaughter after falling 150 feet from a cruise ship in Puerto Rico will not serve jail time.

Salvatore “Sam” Anello, 51, who pleaded guilty to criminally negligent homicide in October in the death of Chloe Wiegand in 2019, was sentenced to three years probation Monday by a San Juan judge.
