SAINT ANTHONY – A grandmother and grandson are safe after their home caught fire in the far west, San Antonio firefighters say.

The blaze occurred on Sunday afternoon in the 9500 block of Cliff Creek, prompting a massive firefighting response.

The grandmother, her grandson and their pets were able to escape the house safely without any injuries, according to firefighters.

The cause of the fire is suspected to be electrical, SAFD said.

The damage to the house was extensive, after the flames set the windows ablaze, melted the siding and caused other damage, also from the smoke. However, damage estimates have not yet been released.

The investigation is ongoing and we will make further updates as they become available.
