The country star, Granger Smith and his wife Amber had reason to cry in love after announcing in June that their 3 year old son, River, had drowned.

The child saved two lives by donating organs, revealed his mother in an article on social media this weekend.

With "0% chance of brain recovery", doctors performed tests to determine if organ donation was possible, Amber wrote on Instagram.

It was not an easy process.

"We knew River's spirit was in heaven, but we could not bear to watch her tiny, earthly body fill herself with all the drugs for three days or more during their search," she wrote.

The doctors tried to speed up the process and told him that the family would not know which organs could be removed after the process. Amber spent the night before the operation with her son.

"I spent the night in bed with him, crying and talking to him while they kept doing tests and taking blood," she wrote. "The next morning, the family and staff lined up in the room for the & # 39; honor walk & # 39 ;.

A walk was just not appropriate.

"We told them that River loved going fast, so to honor him, they pushed him into this room faster than ever," she explained. "Granger and I stood and cried."

I always knew that I wanted to donate if something happened to me one day. I just thought that if I had viable organs, why would I go in the ground with them? My mind would be in heaven, so why not save a life if I could? Never in a million years, I would have thought to make that decision for my baby. When 3 different neuro specialists told us that River had 0% chance to recover his brain (yes 0, not 10 or 1%, 0) after the shock and the reality, I wondered how to bury our sweet baby without trying to Help others? His body is perfect, his organs are perfect, we had to do something. There are so many people waiting for an organ to save their lives. Doctors said that giving was a whole process. We should look for viable recipients and it could take days. We knew River's spirit was in heaven, but we could not bear to watch her tiny, earthly body fill herself with all the drugs for three days or more during their search. They tried to speed up the process so that our family would be at peace, told us that they would bring it back to operate the next morning, but we would not know which organs could be used before. With such a small body, the organs had to be measured physically, not just by x-rays. I spent the night in bed with him, crying and talking to him while they were still doing tests and taking some blood. The next morning, the family and staff lined up in the hall for the "Walk of Honor". We told them that River loved going fast, so to pay tribute to him, they pushed him into this room faster than ever. Granger and I stood each other and cried. We received the letter that our little red headed hero gave birth to 2 adults. A 49-year-old woman and a 53-year-old man. I cried when we opened it. Cry of sadness and shouted of love. I am so proud to be the mother of River and I am so grateful to God for giving it to us for these incredible three years. I pray that these two recipients live in good health, filled with joy and full force, like Riv. It was one of the hardest and easiest decisions we ever made. More than 113,000 people are waiting for a transplant and 20 people die every day waiting. Go to OrganDonor.gov to see how you can help give life too. ❤️
