Six out of ten service stations tested by the SCCP have identified serious violations of tax evasion and smuggling. At the same time, significant fault effects were identified, while during registration at a service station, two illegal underground fuel tanks were discovered.
Specifically, as announced, employees of the Directorate of Business Administration In Attica, they have recently conducted fully targeted inspections at gas stations and power plants at LPG. The detected violation was very high: more than 62% of the total number of service stations checked, violations of the Customs Code and the market (smuggling – fraud) and tax laws (tax evasion).
In particular:
– Inspections were carried out at eleven service stations for the supply of LPG and it was found that an offshore audit report had breached seven, an infringement of more than 63%. The most significant offenses involved smuggling, for quantities greater than 1,665,000 liters of LPG, with smuggling being the most significant. In five of them, a large number of tax registers (tax evasion) have not been published.
– Checks were carried out in five service stations and three infringements were found, namely a 60% offense. An extraterritorial audit report contained contraband offenses for 27,000 liters of unleaded gasoline and 41,000 liters of diesel. Traces of liquid fuel, containing chemical solvents, light oils, etc., were also found in quantities of 6,000 liters of unleaded gasoline, 3,500 liters of diesel and 1,700 liters of fuel oil. The control was of great interest, coordinated by the SEK. and participated in numerous cooperative services at one of the above-mentioned petrol stations, where two illegal underground tanks were installed. One of them, with a capacity of about 7000 liters, had filling and pumping lines directly from tankers, while the second, with a total capacity of about 14 000 liters in two compartments, was connected to a complete network of pipes and valves and a liquid fuel pump. The mechanical installation, the tanks, the lanes connecting the filling ducts to the liquid fuel pump were completely covered with industrial concrete and the drainage pipes covered with rough cement mortar. Illegal tanks were controlled in terms of content by electronic lipometers and similar computer applications. Samples taken from legal and illegal tanks were all, except one, irregular. A liquid fuel pump was seized in order, among other things, to study the interventions that had taken place there. The entire installation was mechanical, which appeals to an experienced manufacturer and raises concerns about the scale of the phenomenon in the service station market. The important know-how gained during the investigation into this case will serve as a guide for carrying out other audits of this type.
