Recep Tayyip Erdogan launches new attacks and threats against Greece and Cyprus for oil exploration in the eastern Mediterranean.
Turkish President described as "risky" the actions of Athens and Nicosia, warning that their behavior is "Threat and risk mainly for the same".
Addressing his party's parliamentary group, Erdogan stressed that Ankara would not "fall to the minimum" of its positions in the eastern Mediterranean or in any other region.
He accused Greece and Cyprus of attempting to impose their economic and political sovereignty over areas where they enjoyed no rights, recalling Turkey's consistent strategy of challenging the ownership of the zones and the maritime zones which result from it. "We will defend our rights until the end," he said, during the broadcast of the government agency Anadolu and the pro-government media.
The placement of Erdogan soon after the publication in the Turkish press of several maps that revive vast Turkish claims in the Mediterranean, without taking into account islands such as Kastelorizo.
Finally, the Turkish media also raised the possibility of an agreement between Ankara and Libya to declare an exclusive economic zone to prevent negotiations during similar negotiations between Greece and Egypt.
