The unfortunate 53-year-old ended up after a stroke – his family said "yes" to donation of organs to give life after the death of his man

Night mobilization at the nursing home Lamia for organ donation by a 53-year-old patient who became brain dead.

Another "bridge of life" was set up overnight at the Lamia General Hospital to give the life of two other human beings to this 53-year-old man who became a brain dead.

The father of two minor children, 53 years old, suffered a serious stroke on the road linking Lamia to Athens, but his relatives, despite the pain of suddenly losing their own, found the courage to donate his kidneys and offer new life on two others.

This was the beginning of a major mobilization of the intensive care coordination group, consisting of the intense Sasha Tsirogianni and Maria Psoma, and the nurse Evangelia Chaloupi, in consultation with the National Organization of Transplantation (NOM), so that the precious organs reach the compatible recipients.

This is why, at dawn at Lamia Hospital, doctors from Laos from Athens and Ippokrateio from Thessaloniki surrendered to both kidneys.

It should be noted that the Lamia ICU, headed by the director of coordination, Dimitris Sfyra, and also by the director, Giorgos Kyriazopoulos, is the first regional ICU transplant unit and at a time when the data shows that there are not many organ donations and that needs have doubled.
