The Russian security agency has released a video with the depots of three Ukrainian sailors, who are among those arrested after the "hot" episode in the Kerch Strait.
One of them, Voluntarius Lisovi, said that he was aware of the "provocative nature" of the Ukrainian act and that he was executing an order. He also said that "I deliberately ignored the demands of the radio," while he said that there were automatically small arms on the ship. Andrei Draca told the camera that he was in the Nikopol galley and that he had been ordered to sail from Odessa to Mariupol. "Russian border services have warned us that we are violating Russian law and have repeatedly asked us to leave the territorial waters of Russia," he said, according to the BBC. Sergey Cimbizov also said that he was in the same powder.
Their testimonies were shown by Russian television, but the Guardian and the BBC point out that the "confessions" of the sailors seemed to be under pressure.
Ukrainian Navy captain Igor Vorunchenko said the men had been forced to lie under pressure. "I know them, they have always been honest professionals in their work, and what they say now is not true," he added.
Meanwhile, a Crimean judge ordered the 60-day detention of the first two sailors who appeared in court, out of 24 arrested when the Russians seized the three Ukrainian vessels. The clbad they face is for the illegal crossing of the Russian border, which can be punished for 6 years, according to Russian media.
