Pilot … he fell asleep in the cockpit and landed 50 km away!

We would not want to be our pilot because … he was sleeping at the wheel of the plane and did not land at his destination!

Fortunately, there were no pbadengers on the small Vortex Air Piper PA-31 which, instead of landing at destination, overran the airport where he had to travel nearly 50 kilometers after the pilot fell asleep on the flight deck, according to the BBC.

The pilot was the only pbadenger of the aircraft, which did not carry pbadengers, but a cargo of Devonport to King Island, Tasmania, on November 8.

We do not know yet how the pilot woke up to land safely.

The Australian Agency for Transport Safety is investigating the incident.

The Vortex Air Piper PA-31 was scheduled to travel 240 km at 7:25 am local time.

"During the flight, the pilot fell asleep, so the plane crossed King Island and continued its journey over 46 km," according to a statement from the service.

As aviation expert Neil Hansford says in Australia, Australia applies very strict regulations to pilot fatigue. "In no case should anyone take this flight tired," he said.

The authorities are supposed to examine the pilot and check the flight procedures to issue a case.
