The father of two minor children, 53 years old, ended after a severe stroke on the Lamia – Athens national road, his relatives, despite the pain of the sudden loss of their own man, found the courage to donate his kidneys and offer a new life to two others.
So he started a big mobilization by Intensive Care Coordination Group composed of Sasha Tsirogianni and Maria Psoma intensive and nurse Evangelia Chaloupi, in consultation with the National Organization for Transplantation (EMO), to enable valuable organs to reach compatible recipients.
For this reason, they came to get up at the Lamia hospital, groups of doctors from Athens Laos and Thessaloniki Ippokrateio for both kidneys.
It should be noted that the Lamia ICU, headed by the director of coordination, Dimitris Sfyra, and also by the director, Giorgos Kyriazopoulos, is the first regional ICU transplant unit and at a time when the data shows that there are not many organ donations and that needs have doubled.
