On the basis of publications – including Documento – on the Marinakis group's monopoly, "Argos" distribution agency, Deputy Prime Minister G. Dracegaskis sent the following letter to the Competition Commission:
"Request for examination of provisional measures under paragraph 5 of Article 25 of Law No. 3959/2011
We will send you no. 5841 / 29-11-18 letter from the limited company under the name "Independent Mbad Media SA", as well as press clippings from the following media: "Journal of the Editors" (26/11/2018 and 27 / 11/2018 ), "Documento" (26/11/2018) and "Democracy" (29/11/2018), where a relevant article is published by the secretary of the Association of Athens Newspapers, Mr. Ioannis Philippakis.
The letter transmitted and the notes submitted allegedly abused a dominant position of the public limited company under the name of ARGOS, according to which the behavior of the alleged company would directly jeopardize the viability of the newspapers in question.
As there is a public interest in media pluralism, which will be irreparably damaged if enough newspapers are closed, we would like to consider the possibility of taking interim measures under section 25 (5) of the Act. No. 3959/2011 (A 93) if you suspect the merits of the complaints. "
