Germany: Wolfgang Schäuble behind Merch World

BERLIN. Wolfgang Schäuble is behind Friedrich Merts' decision to claim Merkel's succession, according to Spiegel magazine. The magazine claims that Angela Merkel was informed of these projects and may have influenced her decision to announce her retirement.

Twenty-one years ago, when the Christian Democratic Party was shocked by the scandal of the black fund, Wolfgang Schäuble was forced to leave the leadership positions, giving up positions at the head of the party and the leader of the parliamentary group to Angela Merkel and Friedrich Merz, respectively. Merkel then won the party game by conquering the Merts, who left active politics for a senior position in charge of relations with the political world.

Now, Merts seems determined to return, having prepared for months the announcement of his candidacy, as advised by Schweizer. According to the magazine, the Speaker of the House and former Finance Minister had called Mr. Merts before the summer and invited him to prepare to announce his candidacy no later than the day after the elections in Essa, as that was the case.

According to the report, Schweizer prepared in October the Merchsean meeting with EPP leader Goethe Daule, who then informed Angela Merkel of the Merchant's 62-year-old intentions.
