The Greek-Egyptian exercise "Medusa", which ends Friday, is in full swing
The rage and provocative challenge of Greek jurisdiction over the Athens FIR was caused by Greece's announcement of submarines on the southeast flanks of the FIR, from tomorrow November 28th to December 6th.
As provided for in the international regulations, Athens has issued NAVTEX under number 590/18, which links this area.
Ankara, through the Antalya station, which has no competent jurisdiction, has issued the antiNAVTEX 1181/18. It complains that Greek NAVTEX was broadcast without prior consultation with Turkey and that its own station is the only one with the power to issue NAVTEX in that region. Calls therefore all commercial vessels to coordinate with the Turkish authorities.
It should be recalled that the aeronautical exercise "Medusa", organized in Greece, Egypt and Cyprus, which anchored Ankara militarily in the Eastern Mediterranean region, will be in full swing.
