In early 2017, Huawei promised to invest between 10 and 20 billion dollars a year for research and development (R & D). At the end of last year, the company revealed to have spent $ 13.23 billion on this, accounting for 14.9% of its total revenue. Because of its efforts to be a global leader in 5G technology, the Chinese company is committed to increasing its investment in the industry from $ 15 billion to $ 20 billion.

Amazon and Alphabet (Google) are the two largest companies R & D spending – the two companies spent $ 22.6 billion and $ 16.6 billion respectively in 2017. Huawei, with this announcement for 2018, approach and can go through Google. The company reported Thursday that 20-30% of this amount will be spent on basic science, a figure above its 10% expected earlier this year. The United States, Australia and Britain are advancing Huawei's network communication technology and it is thought that this decision prompted Huawei to increase its R & D spending. We expect to see more technologies peak of the Chinese giant in the years to come.
